Starr King Parent-Child Workshop Holding Rummage - Fundraiser Sale and Silent Auction in Santa Barbara

Recommend

Santa Barbara, CA - Starr King Parent-Child Workshop announces its 63rd Annual Starr King Rummage Sale and Silent Auction, held in the lower courtyard of the Unitarian Society, 1525 Santa Barbara St., on Friday and Saturday, October 21 & 22, 2011, 9:30-5pm/9:30-1pm.

Find incredible bargains on unique antiques and treasures, clothing, house wares, books, furniture, sports equipment and much more. The Silent Auction features goods and services from local artists, businesses and entertainment venues. Visitors can also enjoy a delicious bake sale and gourmet lunch.

Starr King Rummage Sale and Silent Auction is a beloved community event that many people wait for all year, and provides much of the operating expenses for the cooperative preschool.

"The Rummage Sale is so much more than a fundraiser," says Yolanda Medina-Garcia, director of Starr King. "We choose to do this sale to give back to the community. It teaches children that what they no longer need is still valuable and useful to others, it avoids adding to the landfill, and helps take care of our community."

Medina-Garcia says that many families come every year and rely on the rummage sale to purchase clothing, furniture and supplies for their families.

Starr King will be accepting donations of quality rummage on Sunday, October 16 from 2-5pm. Just pull up to the curb and there will be plenty of people to unload your car. All donations are tax deductible. For pick-up of large items, call 966-1325.

I miss you blog!

You cannot imagine how much I miss updating my blog. I think about it everyday.

It’s been crazy around here, my boys are full of energy and my baby (well not so baby anymore) is running around the house with his big brother.
A lot of things have happened during these time, one of that makes me and my older son proud is our vegetable garden. We are finally using our planter boxes. I cannot tell you how exciting and rewarding it is to grow your own food. It is a great experience with the kids, so if you have preschoolers around I really encourage you to do it. I’ll try to post about my veggie garden soon.

Also, one of my very good friends just had her baby and since she is far I can’t stop thinking about all the newborn stuff I want to share with her (and all of you)

Summer is just around the corner and so it hit me, “summer break at school?” I need activities for my boys and I pronto! My older boy is now 3 ½ and I consider he is a bit young for summer camps, but no worries, there are tons of activities here in town so stay tuned as I find them and share them with you.

I still look for the best deals out there (of course!) but I haven’t had a lot of time to plan my store trips better. Sadly, it looks like Amazon is not giving out the coupons for diapers anymore. So, I guess I’ll be posting new deals for diapers as well

We’ll stay in touch!

Gymboree - Awesome markdowns

I'm so glad I left my house today to finally get the bubbles for my boys. Yep, we love Gymboree bubbles, they are the best out there, believe me.
So after attempting for many days to go to the store, today while Elmo was singing the goodbye "birthday" song and while my older boy finished his Edamame, I got my baby ready, my purse, iPhone oh and of course the 20% off Gymboree coupon and without thinking it twice I grabbed my two boys and off we were out the door.

It's been a while since I've been to La Cumbre mall, and with my clock ticking (almost lunch and nap time) I strolled to the Janie and Jack store to check some cute baby clothes (and the sale rack of course!) without finding good buys. Don't misunderstand me, they had gorgeous outfits, but I wasn't quite ready to spend $30 on a onesie for my baby boy. So, with the "mommy where are the bubbles?" I went across the store to Gymboree where I always find cute outfits at a much nicer for the pocket price.

I was going to strictly get the bubbles, but oh, just getting a quick glance of the sale rack didn't hurt, right? well, as I was holding a pretty nice $48+ jacket on sale for $19, a Gymboree sales person came to me and told me that all the markdowns are between $3.99 and $10.99 for limited time, when she didn't notice any reaction from my part other than "thank you" she said, "for instance, if that jacket is $19 it will be $10.99". My eyes were wide open, what?? with my coupon I was gonna get it for $8+ yay!

So for the same $30 that I could have spent in Janie and Jack I got the following at Gymboree: bubbles, winter jacket, 2 gorgeous vests for my boys. I know spring it's around the corner, but now I'm all set for next winter and all the rains until summer gets here.

You can find the 20% off Gymboree coupon in any Parenting magazine. They have it almost every month.

Have fun shopping

KIDpedia Alphabet

Recommend

I'm so excited to introduce our brand new iPhone/iPad/iPod app, yep KIDpedia Alphabet is all in one! oh and you can pick the language between: English, Spanish and French.

While most kids' alphabet apps consist of static flashcards, KIDpedia Alphabet was designed to provide an interactive environment that promotes learning, cause and effect, fine motor skills and engagement with every element in the app.

This wonderful and interactive app is an excellent way for children to learn the alphabet and letter shapes by associating them with new words. They will be able to play and interact with the sun, a cloud they can drag in the sky, different animals and objects that appear on the screen stimulating learning and curiosity in a playful environment.

You can select the language of your choice between: English, Spanish and French so your child or children can learn the pronunciation of each letter and respective graphic in the language they choose, in addition to their first language or second language. Your children will have a blast with this feature since it encourages them to learn new words and sounds plus they can playback any of these words as many times as they want. This activity also helps them distinguish phones, phonemes and words in each different language, at no additional cost!

Children will have a blast with the beautiful graphics in this app. Most of these graphics can be moved around the screen, letters are swiped in a very intuitive way, cause and effect are demonstrated with interactions of the moving graphics. Alphabet letters are arranged sequentially so your children can follow the logical order of the letters without confusion, tapping the alphabet letters will expand the letters to promote letter shape recognition emphasizing their pronunciation.

Soon, we will be introducing KIdpedia Numbers, KIDpedia shapes, and many more so stay tuned.
